The U Apartments
Bellevue, WA
Dated student housing revitalized.
The U Apartments is a 3-story college student housing building built in 1993. A preliminary investigation identified multiple locations where structural repairs were needed on the east elevation. These locations were throughout the building’s exterior. They included the support columns for the stair towers and walkways, areas of buckling stucco façade, and handrail attachment failure.

The Challenge
Charter’s project team faced a tight timeline when completing our work while students were on summer break. While many students were away, the building was still occupied during the work, so communication with on-site management was critical for the project tasks.
The Solution
With complete confidence from this long-standing client, our team worked closely with engineering and the ownership’s on-site management team to address the life-safety items and ensure seamless communication throughout the project. These relationships were critical in being able to deliver the project on time.
Before & After
Quality work makes all the difference in the final aesthetic and longevity of the structure.

Welcoming Students Back
Charter’s project team finished at the onset of the university’s school year with a safe, updated, and code-compliant building.
